Late-game loot comes fast, and it is easy to hang on to far too much of it. Once Pit runs and Tormented boss fights become part of your routine, every chest seems to produce another pile of Ancestral gear. Treat D4 items as decisions rather than trophies: each piece should improve a build, hold real player-to-player value, or turn into materials you will actually spend. If it does none of those things, clear it out. Start with the basic checks Item Power is still the first thing to scan. For serious endgame gear, 925 is the usual target because it gives weapons their best damage range and armour its strongest base value. Lower-power drops can be useful while levelling, but they rarely deserve stash space later on. Then check the Legendary Aspect before looking too closely at the affixes. A stronger Aspect than the one in your Codex is worth salvaging straight away. It is a quick habit, and it saves a surprising amount of time after a long farming session. Greater Affixes need context A Greater Affix looks exciting, but the stat matters more than the shiny marker. Most players will stop and inspect Critical Strike Chance, Critical Strike Damage, Attack Speed, Maximum Life, weapon damage, and the main stat used by their class. Those rolls can fit several builds and often attract strong offers. Here is a simple comparison table for the usual stash call: Stat group | Typical action; Critical Strike, Attack Speed, Maximum Life, main stat | Keep and compare; Life on Kill, Healing Received, resource on kill | Salvage unless your build specifically needs it; mixed rolls with no useful Greater Affix | Usually salvage. A one-Greater-Affix item is not automatically good. If the rest of it fights your build, it will probably sit there untouched. A quick sorting routine Try doing the same pass every time you return to town. 1. Mark obvious upgrades for the character you are playing. 2. Set aside strong Greater Affix pieces that another character could wear or another player may want. 3. Salvage Aspect upgrades to improve the Codex. 4. Break down the remaining Legendary gear for materials. This is less glamorous than checking every line on every drop, sure, but it keeps the stash usable. It also stops you from saving ten "maybe later" items that never make it into a build. Do not waste Uniques Uniques and Mythic Uniques deserve their own pass. With a Unique, look hard at the roll on its special power. A popular Unique with a poor roll can lose out to a carefully tempered Legendary, so keep near-top rolls and salvage weak copies for Forgotten Souls. Mythic Uniques are different: even an unwanted duplicate has a job. Salvaging one provides a Resplendent Spark, and four Sparks let you craft the Mythic you actually need. That is why cheap D4 items can complement a tidy gear plan, while your spare drops become materials for the next upgrade. |
